I'm afraid I'm still trying to get my head around this but just when I think I've got it I read the next post in the thread and I get confused again.

Here are some examples from my understanding

    Example #1
    Market - Parents to be
    Niche - Baby Furniture
Micro Niche - Cots and Beds

    Example #2
    Market - Home and Garden
Niche - Outdoor Furniture (or is this the market?)
Micro Niche - patio table and chairs (or is this the niche, in which case what would the microniche be? Wooden patio table and chairs?)

    Example #3
    Market - Sports
    Niche - Fishing
Micro Niche - Carp Fishing or would it be carp fishing rods?

Hope someone can help clarify things for me. It seems like a simple concept to understand but also one that can be very confusing.

I'm thinking you could go a step further with that one, how about
Natural Anxiety Remedies or Herbal Anxiety Remedies

Love than explanation ... try not to look at it so literally, 123 stop type of approach, and be ready to move to the area that shows the most promise. So if I understand it correctly, you could even go down to 5 or more levels, then pick from there which topic to target (which I guess we're about to learn soon).

    Thanks heaps

Hey by the way how do you insert the tricky box thing with someones post (as above in dazerd's post).
Sorry I'm new to everything here!!

I think of the levels like zooming in with a microscope - you start off unmagnified (Market) zoom to smaller level (Niche) then zoom in to smaller & smaller levels (Microniche)

PS if you want to use the tricky box thing (quote box) then you just hit the *Reply With Quote* section at the bottom of a post when you want to reply.

Can't help thinking I am being too simplistic?

Some great posts, which really get the brain ticking over - what started out a seemingly simple relationship - Market:Niche:Micro Niche - starts to get more complex.

But what is really strange is, as you start to comprehend the relationship - and more critically, that one persons market, could be another persons Micro Niche! - then the whole thing gets more clearer and that is when the 'blue sky' ideas will start to flow.

I am not there yet!....but hopefully will be by the time we have finished module 1. The Challenge - Module 1 - Addiction!

You seem to have the general idea but as you have discovered when you start with a really broad market like sports you can actually get even more specific. So in your examples above the microniches you have come up with could be even more micro. Don't panic too much about whether the microniche is micro enough - that will be explored later.

My personal feeling with the above is that your niche is more likely to be Carp Fishing while the micro niche would be carp fishing rods, or carp fishing holidays etc.

The good thing is you are already grasping the concept of narrowing things down further and further - Yay you!

    How about something like:
    Market: Hardware
    Niche: Hammers
MicroNiche: Claw hammers, tack hammers, carpet hammers, etc.

I just have to say the first module video gave me a huge grin.
I'm an avid WoW player and when I saw "squishy" pop up, I actually started giggling. Gonna show this video to my hubby when he gets home; he'll get a kick out of it. He's the token squishy in our 10-man team.
