COMMENTS on my blog - Which one do I accept?

I am getting a few comments on my website which appear to be "not important" and nothing to do with my blog article directly (such as promotion on how to rank better on Google and whatnot).
I am wondering what is the best action?
    1- Ignore them?
    2- Approve them regardless?
    3- Spam them?
    4- Trash them?

    Please advise,

    Cristina

    Cristina,

I will trash them if not related to the blog. Further more if you are using akismet wordpress blog plugin for spam, it probably will list the comment as spam anyhow.

I agree with Andrew, Cristina. I've gotten a few of those spammy comments myself, even with the Akismet plugin (though if you don't have the plugin installed, I definitely suggest doing so). What some people will do is they'll paste the same comment (spam) on several different blogs just to get a few backlinks.

Often you can tell right away that it is a spam comment because it won't relate to your subject matter at all. Other times, the comment will just say, "Good post! I learned a lot from it. You portray everything so clearly." or something of that nature. These comments are usually the same spam. They're vague so that they can be posted on tons of blogs, no matter the subject matter. I would trash these as well if the commenter isn't adding any value to the conversation or making it clear that he/she actually read the post.

Without ideas, there cannot be a plan. Without a plan, there cannot be action. Without action, there cannot be progress.
