Spinning is trying to game the system and Google has declared open warfare on people trying to game the system, so go into knowing what you're up against. If you don't take the time to personally research it thoroughly, you're not doing your due diligence as a business owner and you deserve what you get.

Personally I rewrite stuff all the time, but I don't spin in a mechanical way. I take the ideas and present them in a different way and usually in a different voice. For me, 90% of the battle is getting started. By not starting with a blank slate, I can crank out honestly unique content very fast when I'm not starting from scratch.
