    Unhappy New Panda Update

I just got a FB post from Michelle MacPhearson informing that Google just tweeted that they just unleashed a new Panda Update upon the world...

My PR 3 site I started in the 2010 Challenge slipped overnight from its #1 position (for the main keyword phrase - still running MS Rank Tracker to check the others) to #4 overnight.

The site is still maintaining its page rank (the last Panda update took it from 0 to 4 and then back to 3) but the big boys that play in my niche are making progress against me.
I cannot compete with the number of tweets and FB posts that Apple or Mashable gets!!! If that's going to be the criteria then the small sites are going to be doomed. Is that fair? Is it fair to the general public?
I give them great content 5 days a week with 500 word thoroughly searched articles...

Short of hiring a staff of writers I am not sure how to proceed. I am just finishing up Michelle's Pop Up Publisher course on turning a site into a multi-writer publishing house... maybe I have to consider that?

Anyone else seeing anything happening on their sites?

Maggie in another forum there were discussions related to this update. Persons were saying that they were receiving emails from google saying that their links looks suspicious and unnatural. They even alluded to the fact that google was asking about their link source names. Some of there sites were immediately d-indexed by google, awaiting the names of their linking sources.

The discussions went on saying that the best way to build natural links would be to do more guest and forum posting. This is similar to what we are taught here at the challenge, so if we follow what we are taught here we should be fine, I think.

Whenever there is an update like this, all we can do is "wait and see" until the dust settles and the pros have a chance to do an in depth analysis. Just keep following Ed and Michelle, etc. and they will let us know what's going on and what we can do about it.

Hey Dean, long time no see!

I searched first but didn't see that thread Andrew, thanks for letting em know about it.
I am following Ed and Michelle on it too... actually giving feedback to Michelle on mine.

Oh we all know that tune... the Google Dance! They have us dancing like the puppets they make us!

I realize we all need to let the dust settle... that site I mentioned went from #1 on Friday to
#4 on Saturday and then I commanded #3, 10 (Twitter) #14 (YouTube video) and #17 (article) on Sunday!

I haven't got that email from Google and don't expect it, I think mine was just that they are putting so much
emphasis on social sites (especially Google + which I hate and rarely use) that it triggered the reaction.
I am competing with some pretty big sites and I simply cannot generate the number of tweets and posts that they can.
If that's going to become the criteria then I am afraid that all small sites are doomed. Time will tell... Google can do
whatever they like... we just need to see what the fallout will be... and how we might deal with it.

    Maggie,

Persons that received messages received them in their Google Webmaster Tools accounts. Like Dean said we will wait for the pros. Ed also did a recent blog post yesterday about this. I say it on Facebook with a link pointing back to his blog.

Yep, saw, read and responded to Ed. Nothing more we can do at this point that we aren't already doing.
