I looked at the google authorship and now I have a couple of questions on this.
1 It says to link to your google+ account, could this help and count as a backlink?
2 won't this clog up my google profile then in time they will say its spamming or something?

Yes, but the real value is in building yourself as an authority.

Only if you author spam. When you link your blog to your Google profile, it should automatically credit you for the stuff you post on your blog under your name. When you author stuff elsewhere, you also want to add that so you get credit for it. What you're doing is saying, "this is my content." Lots of people create lots of content, so it isn't about volume, it's about the content and grabbing people with it and having Google recognize that you're the guy who creates the content that people talk about and get into.
