Question Sell products from a country - Can the country be the keyword?

    Hello everyone, just getting started.

I live in Japan and figure my best niche will be Japanese products. I have a list of popular J things I'd like to try. But when I choose Japanese as my keyword in MS none of the J products on my list shows up to drill down on. Almost everything is related to Japanese language. Do I need to go the long way around... put in the object first and then try to find Japanese?

For example if 'Japanese dog collars' are becoming popular, do i need to start with 'dog' and try to go 'collar' then Japanese? I have a list of 30 things I'd like to try so this would indeed be the long way.

Or can I put on 2 or 3 keywords to start so i can go through my list that way. I searched for 'Japanese' before posting and saw a thread about good results searching for "Japanese Food Store". That is what I would like to do.

Thanks for any help! I'm excited to get this going.

You should try all of the ideas you've had and see how they play out. That's the best way to learn how Google treats the keywords you're interested in.

You should also be aware that with a word like "Japanese" it is too common to be of much use by itself. In other words, Google can find zillions of things to go with the word "Japanese" and "dog collars" is the sort of thing that wouldn't be very popular compared to things related to the Japanese language, for example (as you discovered).

If it were me, I would try both the exact thing I think might work and also some more focused and yet generic ideas like "Japanese dog products."

Thanks Dean. So if i have a list of, say, Japanese lanterns, Japanese widgets, etc, then I need to start with lanterns as my keyword and then try to find 'Japanese' as a key word inside there? And then move on to widgets as my keyword and try to find Japanese in those keywords?

Can I use MS to find multiple key words, such as "Japanese dog products"? Or do i start with 'dog', narrow down to 'products' and then look for 'Japanese'?

    I appreciate your time!
