Warning - Market Samurai blocking Adwords account
Hi
Been using MS to carry out keyword research when I suddenly got the following message when generating keywords:
"Due to rate-limiting of requests to Google, your analysis cannot be completed. This may be a result of your computer sending too many queries ina short timeframe. Please try again later".
Now there is no mention of this on the MS support sites (forum, knowledgebase etc). However, when you look external to MS support (Warrior Forum etc) there is indeed much discussion (and anger) about this in recent months. It appears that Google blocks your Adwords account if you do 'too many' keyword searches in a 'short' amount of time. Not quite sure what is meant by 'short' or 'too many'. I probably generated keyword lists for 20 seed keyword in the space of an hour or so. Doesn't seem excessive to me. I have only ever used the Adwords account for The Challenge so it has no history
Anyway, it appears that I will have to wait until my account is unblocked. It took one guy 3 MONTHS to get it unblocked (I've been waiting 12 hours and ist still blocked). The way round it........ appears to be to have multiple Adwords accounts set up.
Have put in a support ticket to MS. I'll let you know what they say.
Can't believe this won't be a major issue for MS going forward if they don't sort it out with Google.. If you're doing a lot of keyword research this will be a real pain.
Anyone else had any experience of this or know a way round it? Am just about to set up another Adwords account but not a good experience of MS so far.
Regards
Keith

This issue has nothing at all to do with Market Samurai Keith - that message from them is because Google stopped sending them data via your adword account. When you make repeated searches via your Google account Google sometimes perceives it as excessive use of the account & temporarily blocks the data - hence the MS error message. I've had it happen to me several times earlier but not recently (longest I was offline was 3 days).

Hi Keith,
As Bill says, and I want to reiterate. It's very normal, it's a message from Google. We all go through it if we overuse Google to find information.
20 different lists for 20 seed keywords within an hour is A LOT! WOW! I am not at all surprised you got blocked.
I wouldn't fit more than 2-3 in an hour if I am doing the analysis thoroughly.
You do need to wait now, and do be careful how often you use it, if you do a search around this forum or online, you will find out it's a very normal occurrence if we get a bit carried away with our searching (which we've all done at the beginning of our online careers
).

Ive had a similar problem with my adwords account. I had to go back to using MS with no adwords account for over a week before trying it again.

Hi Bill,
I appreciate the reasons why it is blocked but I'm surprised that
a) MS don't have some form of agreement with Google to overcome this - if it is going through MS proxy servers they have control of it and hence if there were any issues they would be able to block the perpetrators and/or
b) Why don't MS take the data from Google as a daily feed so that they could use it effectively off-line. This would undoubtedly lead to a much faster MS (which I believe it badly needs) and no blocking by Google. I know the data wouldn't be 'live' but for the purposes of keyword analysis being behind by one day (or probably even a week) is unlikely to affect a keyword analysis. Not totally sure on how easy this is acheived or the commercial viability but I know that other software does something similar so believe it's achievable.
Have got round it using a different Adwords account so not the end of the world. In comparison to other keyword tools I've used, I have to say that my experience with MS has not been good so far.

Hi Caro,
Please see my response to Bill above re Adword blocking. With regards to overuse, I actually used only 1 list but with approximately 20 seed keywords as I drilled down into the niche. Unfortunately, because of the Filtering criterion used in (Day 1, Mod 4) of the Challenge, finding a Theme plus 4 categories for a Niche which meets this criterion is very tough, especially for a beginner (which I'm not). You only need to read through this forum to see that!!!! This in itself is likely to lead to excessive use of the MS KWA tool. IMHO I believe the difficulty in finding suitable niches leads to a lot of frustration for Challenge users, especially so early on in the Challenge. I'm not saying it isn't achievable because it clearly is.
With regards to the Adwords account blocking, I guess what I was trying to say is that there doesn't appear to be a warning/explanation either in the Challenge, the Forum or on MS knowledgebase to warn people or advise them how best to make use of the MS keyword tool (is it worthy of a sticky??)
Having used a few Keyword tools, I do find MS very slow and cumbersome (especially for a newbie). I've never had an issues with Adwords blocking with any of the other KWA tools I've used either. I do appreciate its flexibility and its functionality, both of which will be more widely used for experienced digital marketers.
Anyway, I'm enjoying doing the Challenge. I think it's great and appeciate everybody's response. Looking forward to our first team meeting tomorrow night as well!!!

Hi Keith,
Yeah I've had this problem over the past couple weeks along with one from market samurai itself about too many SEOC searches on an unpaid account (though its supposed to be unlimited for the duration of the challenge..?) and other problems connecting to servers etc.
I gotta say I do agree, I have been on module 1 day 4 now since my second day and what started an exciting, door opening opportunity has become somewhat difficult and dis-heartening. I've spent over 15 hours on this 30 minute section, true a lot of waiting is waiting on MS but I'm finding even the most ludicrous bizarre niches don't quite meet the criteria.
Don't get me wrong, I know it needs to be fulfilled now else pay later etc. I'm not being ungrateful for what is essentially free training I just cant seem to find the numbers. Even using Deans methods for scouting out leads and such, and seeing the days tick down on MS when you cant even use it due to problem x doesn't help.
Anyways rant over (sometimes its good to vent right..?), I shall continue looking. Good luck to you.

Hi Gregg,
I sympathise (and empathise!!) with your situation. The deteriration of your enthusiasm is exactly what I was talking about.
I suppose that one thing that has made things worse since the Challenge started is that there is simply a lot more competition out there now... hence more difficulty in finding niches that match the criterion (and many more searches using MS=more Google blocking.
I've actually started to review and compare a few other Keyword Analysis Tools alongside MS. Drop me a pm if you want to know which ones. They obviously all use different algorithms and all are established, stable, affordable products from very credible people/companies with decent numbers of users so there should be no issues there.
MS is definately the most complex (and slowest) but is also very comprehensive. Others make finding niches MUCH faster and easier. My intention is to use the 'easier/quicker' tools to find the niches fast, then feed these into MS to see if the niches found pass the Challenge criterion...... should make interesting reading.
Anyway, good luck with the Challenge

Hum, I'm kinda digging deep into the forum
There are few threads about this problem, and I can't help but wandering - is it possible that everyone is overlooking the obvious fact that you can open as many AdWords accounts as you want - so if they block one of them, you can switch to another.
Or AM I missing something (being a newbie and everything)?

Jelena I would very carefully read the Adwords account terms of service before I did anything like opening a duplicate account.
