    Free Contents VS Paid Contents

    Dear all,

Nowadays there are more and more free & useful content on the internet such as Youtube and other "self-help" website. Something comes to my mind is that why do people have the needs to buy rather then just watch or view the free content? Really still room for making a paid e-book or something?

Thanks for your reply in advance.

    Chris

I raise this question because when I am finding some of my niche, I can always see some free tutorial on Youtube and they are doing quite well. So I am wondering people will tend to read the free materials rather than buy something, am I right?
Hope that someone can share their opinions on it.

    Cheers,
    Chris

The question isn't if there are free resources available, the question is if this is something people are buying.

I'll give you a perfect example.... learn to play the guitar. There are tons of free resources for learning how to play the guitar. At the same time, there are some very famous marketers in this niche and they make thousands of dollars a month selling guitar courses.

So like I said, the question isn't if you can find free resources, the question is if you can find resources that people are buying.

There are various reasons that people do not always use the "free" resources found online. Some people do not know how to find the information. Some do not trust the quality of "free" information. And some just don't have or don't want to take the time to find the "free" information.

And a lot simply aren't very good and finding free content.
But what I suggest is add additional content that goes beyond the free content (basically answer question the searcher wouldn't even know to ask).

This is exactly right. This exemplifies "adding value."
