Question Module 1 Day 4 Question - Possible Niche with a 0 SEOC

Hi! I hope everyone is doing well with the course. I'm learning a great deal so far.

I have found three three niches that fit the filters for this day and have found a couple sub-categories that have an SEOC of 0. Any SEOC that is 30,000 and below is good but does that mean a zero is something that isn't tapped into?

I haven't gotten to the rest of the days for Module 1 just yet, so my question might be answered there but if this is not a good sign, then I'd like to know before moving on.

The other filters, PBR and SEOT are also well within the range specified just for your information.

    Thanks for the help.

I've seen a decent amount of 0's just browsing. it's harder and harder to find untapped niches on the internet. I'd say it's more likely that the "0" is just a glitch in the way market samurai is researching the key words, etc. Nothing is truly untapped.

I could be wrong though. IF your topic is something like "naked mountain climbing in greenland" or something, then i guess you could a get a 0.

i'm still trying to learn exactly how market samurai gets its info myself. I just made a thread about not being sure how market samurai, and google, deal with "s" at the end of words. i hope i helped a bit tho =)

Do a cross check of your SEOC using google keywords.
In my first (and glorious) niche one of my potential keyword phrases that could be my theme keyword is showing as 0 seoc in SM...in google keywords it's showing as high seoc.
...which just makes me doubt more and more of the data / analysis that MS is currently delivering.
It's a great tool when it's working but I think until its back on its feet people should push pause on using it for market research because the data is so currently flawed.

    Lightbulb Zero Google Competition

    ---Denise

    Go to google search
Enter your keyword into search box & click
    See what results come up
Check the number of results just below search box - it will appear like this :
    "About 2,900,000,000 results (0.17 seconds)".
This will show you for sure how many results there are for your keyword on Google.

This also had me - first run through on Market Samurai gave SEOT 204, PBR 30% SEOC 0 - thought I'd check on here as didn't seem right to me. If I type the phrase into Google Keywords tool I get it reported as High Competition, 14,800 Global Monthly searches, 8,100 local monthly searches.
Looking forward to hearing more info from Afro and others on this & whether it means we will always have to double check MS results with Google (and if so wouldn't we be better off just doing everything in google?) or if there are ways to get better data from MS?

Edit - the info provided by ScottSharpe on http://challenge.co/forum/showthread...ll=1#post30853 might be useful, although even working through that still results in some SEOC results coming back as 0...

    the workaround for this

I'm having the 0 SEOC value returned a lot, too.

The way to workaround this is to type THAT particular keyword phrase into the google search field, manually, and in quotes, and check the print below your search query on the results page where it says something like "About 29,500 results (0.21 seconds)". In that case, your missing SEOC value would be 29,500.

SEOC is based on phrase match search results, and so you when you're doing the above workaround, you have to make sure you use the quotes around your search phrase. If you don't, you'll end up with the broad match results, which will usually be much higher (and of no use to us, right now.)

    Hi Everyone,

Dean Richards, moderator extraordinaire, began a mega-thread yesterday that addresses all of the recent MS issues and various solutions for them here:

    http://challenge.co/forum/showthread...ms-Mega-Thread

I believe it covers all of the questions you pose in this thread. It is under the General Challenge Chat section of the Forum and you may want to bookmark it as reference.

MS has indeed had a rough start for #tch, but knowing the founders and the team at Noble Samurai -- the incredible intelligence, true dedication and superb customer service they've proven over the past several years to me personally, and the Challenge as a whole, I have complete faith that they are working 200% on resolving whatever the issues are, as fast as they can for all of us.

So hang in there and please be patient.

    Cheers,

    Linda

Thank you to everyone with your help and advice. I have discarded the niche with the 0 SEOC and am looking for another niche to go with the two that I have found.

    Good luck to everyone!

MS guys said they were having issues with SEOC yesterday it should be fixed by now.

    As stated check in google.

Only SEOC 0 situation I can think of would be for a obscure exact match, basically not what we are looking for in the 30dc.
