I use Hootsuite now for all my scheduling (although the free version of Social Oomph also offers this for Tweeting).

The thing I like about Hootsuite is for a few dollars each month I can also track the clicks using their ow.ly link shortener and see whether anyone is responding, the times they are most likely to click a link etc. Also, as someone who uses many different computers during the day depending on where I am, it's great to have a web-based option.

    Lisa,
    Thank you for this pointer.
Interestingly the 2 sites you mentioned are the ONLY 2 sites that we could find that have a decent and real list of interesting features.
We are very surprised of that there such little competition to these two online app.

The feature that we lik in Social Oomph is called "auto-DM" where you send an automatic DM to new followers.

We like very much for our ecommerce site because tell users that if they follow us, we will automatically send them a FREE 10% discount coupon.

We like the idea of tracking clicks in Hootsuite using the ow.ly shortener (that you menionned above).

Would you know by any chance if Hootsuite offers an auto-DM feature.

    thank you.

I came across Market me Tweet from someone a week or so ago and have been trying to see if anyone on here has used it. The real benefit I see is that you can use your own website branding in the tweet, whereas using HootSuite and many others displays their link/branding. Worth going having a look and I don't think its too expensive. Let me know what you think, I'd love a 2nd opinion.

    Darren an All,
I found what I think is a good solution/combination of tools to us and its all FREE!!!

1/ First - create a Ping.fm account and connect it to your Twitter and Facebook accuonts
2/ Second - optional (create another Ping.fm is you're like me and have 2 twitter accounts)
3/ Goto Hootsuite, sign in for their free account
4/ setup your ping.fm(s) accounts in your FREE hootsuite account.

5/ Schedule your Tweet and status updates for FREE on hootsuite and guess what the status updates sent will NOT have any references to the Hootsuite website (just a mention to ping.fm) on your facebook Wall updates, but not mention of hootsuite website on the tweets messages...

    Voila!

Advantages: Ping.fm is entirely Free and Hoosuite is FREE (for 5 networks account) - Also Ping.fm will automatically shorten any URL included in the message!
Minuses: Hootsuite scheduling interafce is not the best (only 1 scheduling of 1 message at a time and old scheduled messages cannot be seen)- Also I could not find a way to un-schedule a scheduled message....

Thank you all again for helping me finding these online tools

Michelle, No Hootsuite doesn't offer the Auto DM feature at the moment.
