Help Needed Urgently re anchor text

    Hi there

I have go really blogged down in something and I can seem to work out how to fix it.

When I go to add anchor text it doesnt link back to my site. If i just type in the www.domain.com, it goes straight to the site but that's not the advice given.

    <a href=”http://www.domain.com”>keyword </a>

Is it that I have my keyword in capitals?

When I add the whole code it doesnt work? What am I doing wrong?

I am in the process of going and changing all my posterous posts as to try and get it right.

I am so stuck here. It also might explain why I am only registering with MS with 3 backlinks

    Thanks in advance

    JaiChamonix,
Well your syntax is correct <a href="http://yourdomain.com">keyword phrase goes here</a>

what site are you trying to put this on? There may be an issue there.

OK, one problem I can see is that your first " is the wrong way round/curved. Curved speech marks tend to cause problems in code. If you try hand typing them in instead of cutting and pasting from Word (which I suspect is what has happened) you should get the straight kind. Cutting and pasting from notepad is usually ok if you like to save the code for easy access.

Lisa is correct. Using any type of Word processor to write your HTML hyperlinks is asking for trouble. Word processors are notorious for adding their own formatting code on the back end, switching curly quotation marks with straight quotation marks, etc.

It's always best to write any type of code in a text editor like Notepad, Crimson Editor, or Barebones BBE Editor for Macs.

I learned that lesson the hard way. It's one of the newbie initiation mistakes we all make. Step away from Microsoft word and run to Notepad, Text edit and the others Kasey has recommended.

    Thumbs up

    Hi Jai, and other "challengers",
you might want to check out this free hyper link creator tool from force 5, it's freeware and you don't have to even give your email address to download, I've been using it for a couple of years, takes all the hassle out of things, the links always work too. I have no affiliation with the company just thought I'd post as I've found it very useful he's the Link http://www.hyperlinkmaker.com
