Specific Q about domain suffix and density.

Ok, I know there has been a lot of posts about this but a) there havent been any figures posted that i can refer to and b) this is very specific.

I have a choice between two domains

    mykeyword.net which is a 86% density or

    keyword.us which is a 100% density.

BUT 82% of my traffic is in the US and it is a reasonably competitive market so would I be better trying to atleast get into the top ten of the US results than risk not in global results. And would a .us actually be better than a .net in a us based search?

Another factor to consider is canada, australia and the UK only make up about 2.3% of the market (not sure where the other 15% are searching from) and the affiliate program/s i come to work with may not post to obscure countries so the US may actually represent about 97% of the market that I can sell to.

I know this is a ball ache of a question but I thought I may aswell ask for advice before proceeding.

    Many Thanks

    Alex

Alex it's important to understand that you are simply testing a market to start with to see if it has traffic potential & you never want to limit your options as you have no idea yet what (or from where) your market is interested in. You really need to stay global - the lab guys have tested this rigorously and your .US domain choice will not get the google recognition that would come from using .COM .NET or .ORG.

And you don't need to worry so much about the domain name - although a high keyword density is desirable, it is not vital - as long as you have the keyphrase in the domain name it will be fine - your mykeyword.net choice is fine!
