Facebook page or Facebook Fan Page? Yikes! now I am confused- what's the diff?
I set up an account within my personal facebook account with my new persona and profile that highlights my theme keyword phrase and from there created a facebook page named with my theme keyword phrase that is linked to my posterous.
    Is this correct?

That has been confusing for me as well. As I found out when I posted something to my personal FB account and as I am the admin for Fan site for my employer...well you can see where I am going. Luckily I did not say anything that was too controversial for my Employers site. My family and friends got tired of my marketing to them instead of my other pages. I think I have it sorted now :-)

It seems there's a bit of confusion here regarding the distinction between the different Facebook pages. Let's see if I can clarify it a bit.

    (1) Facebook personal profile - This is you "primary" account. The account that is for you as a person, not you as a business owner or a marketer or a fill-in-the-blank. This is the account that Facebook says you can only have one of. Because they don't want you pretending to be someone that you're not. Since there is only one of you, you should only have one Facebook personal account.

    (2) Facebook page - This is also referred to under a variety of other monikers. For example, Facebook fan pages, Facebook "like" pages, Facebook business pages, Facebook public pages, or simply, Facebook pages. You can have as many of these pages as you want. So if you want a page for your Challenge keywords, you can set one up for that. Then, if you decide next week that you want to set up a Facebook page for your amateur ska band, you can set up another page.

So, while you will only have one primary account used when logging in to Facebook (your Facebook personal account), you can have as many different Facebook pages as your heart desires.

Also, your Facebook personal profile will only be visible to someone once they are logged in to Facebook (and also depending on what security settings you have in place for it). But a Facebook page (fanpage, like page, business page, public page, etc.) can be viewed even if the person does not have a Facebook account and is not logged in.

I hope that clears up some confusion a bit.

    Cheerio!

I've been worried about this so it is great to hear it confirmed that no one will know who created the page. However, I have a question. I created a facebook page for my niche a while back but did nothing with it. Now, when I go to the page in the right column it says "my real name likes this" I don't recall ever liking my own page and I can't find it anywhere on my personal profile saying that I like the page, so I am not able to delete anything there. I want this to go away because I really don't want my real name associated with or appearing on my niche page. How do I get rid of it? I'm hesitant to do anything with this page until I am sure it is completely separate from my personal profile, which means not having my name appear on the page.

    Thanks!

    @SimplyLiving,

When you create a Facebook page, the default setting assigned by Facebook is that you (as the creator of the page), do, indeed, like it. Otherwise, why would you have created it? As far as I know, there is no way to "unlike" a page that you, yourself, have created. But if anyone knows otherwise, please share it with the community.

Kasey, I know otherwise It's not like you've described actually.

SimplyLiving, when you go to your page and see "your real name likes this", is this phrase placed in the end of the box with title "Get More Connections" or something?
If you read all the rest text in that box, you notice that it is an ad of ad, so facebook wants you to purchase their ad. And that phrase "your name like this" is an example how the friends of your page participants (people who "like" your page) would see that ad. For example, if one of your page follower is John Black, then a friend of John Black will see on his/her facebook "home" page kind of announcement on the right upper corner "John Black like 'the page name' "

In order to be sure your page is not reflected in any way on your personal profile page, you can intentionally "like" your page and then check your profile. Bear in mind that your real friends will see that you've liked and then unliked your page. BUT! They never can see who is the owner of your page. The same way you can like and unlike "I love fluffy clouds" page (if such does exist xD ). Your friends will be able to see that on their wall, but who cares?

I logged out of facebook and visited my page and the "my name likes this" is not there. I feel much better now.

Just remember with Facebook, YOU might not like it, but your prospects do.

Facebook is the 3rd largest country population wise. It's not to be ignored as an Internet Marketer/Business Professional.
