Question Can We Set Up Another Squidoo Account?

Hi! Long ago I made a Squidoo lens on a totally different niche than the one I'm doing for this Challenge. I went to the Squidoo FAQs and can't find anything about creating more than one account.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thank you. Standing by.

    Ken,

If you want to create a different account you will have to sign up with a different email address. You are able to create more than one lens per account. I also had not been on Squidoo in a while and I just added this lens to my already existing account.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Djdelae,
Thanks for your reply. I noticed that when I set up a new lens it asks for the 'essential' stuff, like Keyword etc. So maybe it doesn't matter having an account name related to your niche. My present account has a kind of 'interesting generic' name.

I think too, that I'm putting too much importance on the account name being similar or close to our niche. It would be nice, but I'm not sure if it's important.

I'll wait until I get confirmation of this.

I don't think the account name needs to be similar to your keyword (at least I hope not). It's the actual lens name that is important. Hopefully someone with a little more experience than me can clarify.

I read somewhere on Squidoo a few months back that it's fine to have multiple accounts. The only disadvantage is that you can't combine accounts to go for one of the 'giant squid' status things. In other words, if you write 50 articles under one account, you're eligible to be considered as a giant squid, which give you some advantages. On the other hand, if you have 5 accounts and write 10 articles in each, you won't be considered.

Regarding the account name / keyword query: I don't know how important it is, but it's worth pointing out that if you do use your keyword, then you'll have some extra keyword optimized urls pointing back to your blog. You'll have your lens (squidoo.com/MyKeyword), and your public profile page (squidoo.com/lensmasters/MyKeyword). I guess it would help, but I really don't know, so I too will wait for the more experienced to shed some light on it!

I am also interested in this question as well and would like to know the answer. Should we make different accounts for different theme keywords or just use the same account as far as Squidoo, Ezine, Hubpages and the Posterous network?

Personally, I have different accounts for each niche so that (a) I can keep the focus across my account on that niche and (b) I can potentially sell the site in the future and include all the social media accounts too. The one site that expressly asks people not to have more than one account is Ezine Articles and offers the alternative of creating pseudonyms within your account.

If you do want to sell a business later and include the SQ lenses, it's very easy to transfer them to a different account.

Thank you lisahartwell and kevinw1. I may want to sell down the road so I will make different accounts to make the process easier.

    Hi Lisa and Kevin,
Thank you for sharing an important perspective here. I just got a another lesson in mindset...

As we go about building/testing our niche, we should always keep in mind what we would need to do if we wanted to sell the site. I've never really given it much thought but comments like yours are changing my thinking and I think it's good idea to "make it a habit" when you 'start-a-goin-everywhere-doin-a-this-and-that' with the niche to make sure 'every-this-and-that' will sweeten the package if we decide to sell our site.
