    On page optimization

    Hi all

I have watched the first video related to module three. Ed takes the example of "the hottest man in the universe" and shows us the SEOC matrix at the end of the video.

The line is completely red as for onpage optimization for his site regarding this keyword, and Ed goes on telling us that is what we have been doing in module 2.

That grew me curious about my newly born blogs. So I entered my custom urls in MS (I have created two blogs) just to check. One line is yellow, every column has a 'Y' except an 'N' in the Desc column. As for the other blog, started one week later, the line is completely green, mainly 'N's, except two 'Y' in 'Url' and 'Head' columns .
Strangely enough, the newer blog is doing much better as for rankings (around #100 whereas the other stands at around #140).

Have I missed something or made one or several mistakes in setting up the blogs ? Or else is it just a matter of time until google realizes my blogs have full onpage optimization ?

    Cheers.

    S.

Stepydan all 4 factors that make up the on-page optimization section matrix are important - You need all 4 filled to see a red matrix there (Title, URL, Description & Header) so your 2 blogs are missing one or more of those elements.

All of the boxes for Title, Description and so on in the All in One SEO plugin should be completed. I was under the impression WPD did this for you (I can't use WPD because of my host), but if not, you should be able to do it from the WPD control panel, or in the worst case, by logging directly into your blog and going to the settings.

Fran, are you saying we have to fill in all the boxes for the all in one webmaster options plug-in? if so, where can I find instructions?

I am glad I asked this question !

The module 2 day 5 video instructions about setting up our blogs using WPD do not require us to activate any plugin, especially regarding on page optimization.

Obviously, I missed something important although I am positive I followed the video to the letter for I did not want to mess things up.

Now, to fix it, is it just a question of activating the 'All in one SEO pack' plugin in WPD (mine is deactivated), or do we have to manually input something into some boxes (and so I will second the preceding question : where can we find instructions ?)

Do a search in the forums for the plugin Headspace. There is a post, sorry no time to look now, that tells you what to look for.

My site had a N in Desc as well. When I read about Headspace I did what it said and it was still N... I did a View Page Source and sure enough, the info was lacking on my page. I picked another theme and it was all better. Some WPD themes have shortcomings that can hurt us. Beware.

I noticed the "bad" theme on WPD was only rated 2 out of 5. The one that worked was 4 of 5 so that may help you decide the better themes.
Too bad the themes aren't better vetted for this kind of problem.

Thank you Jim ! I think I have found several threads that talk about that subject. Here is the more appropriate one, imho : http://challenge.co/forum/showthread...ugin+Headspace'

Too bad I really liked the theme I chose. But I like onpage optimization better.

All-in-One SEO or Headspace will do the job - don't think you have to install one if you already have the other one.

I'm a total newbie here and am I'm struggling with this a little. I was surprised this wasn't covered in any of the videos... Is this something we aren't supposed to worry about yet? Also, forgive me but if I have to reenter all the information I already put into wpd what is the point of wpd other than automatically installing plugins that I have to then manually input the information into?

Question: How do you "enter" your blog into MS? Was this covered on a video? Did I miss something?
