    Categories

Should the categories on our website reflect our keywords or it doesn't really matter?

Category keywords are literally your categories. This is one of the brilliant things about the built-in SEO capability of Wordpress. Google understands Wordpress categories and by matching your categories to the keyword optimized posts within that category, you create the perfect match that allows Google to know what you're all about.

Adding more categories is fine, just take advantage of the SEO benefits of matching your categories to keywords. The only disadvantage of not matching categories to keywords is that you miss out on all the positive benefits you get when you do so. It isn't going to set you back, it just isn't going to move you forward either and I don't see any point in doing something that isn't going to help me rank for the keywords I'm targeting.

Along this same line, do the categories only have to logically fit the topic or must they match in someway to the theme keyword? I just posted a question explaining my dilemma on this very thing that goes into much more depth. The keyword phrase I've found offers a BROAD range of subcategories from a human/logic perspective, it is dead on the money in that area, but the categories and subcategories don't seem or sound remotely related without that theme phrase logic being applied. Human logic would sooo get it, and right away so for the user it is perfect. Will Google apply the human logic or look for word pattern logic?

Lisa to get the best SEO and search benefits your category keywords need to be seen by Google as semantically related to your theme keyword - unfortunately Google does not always follow human logic!

One of the reasons we insist that you find your categories by doing a Market Samurai search using your theme phrase as the seed is to make sure that we know what Google regards as important. Human logic & intuition are brilliant at seeing related patterns but are totally irrelevant here - When you are testing a niche and relying on Google supplying you traffic then *Google Logic* is all that matters!

shouldn't you let Market Samurai help you choose your category keywords based on your theme as presented in the Challenge? Your theme must meet the criteria of 80/15/30,000. Then 'whatever is left' is your category keywords?

I believe based on experience that is more limited then some of the other people that have replied that Google does indeed see human logic as you call it. I base this on the fact that they try to track every thing and that basically means they track the train of thoughts that people have others may disagree.

if you have theme word wind power and categories wind generator, wind turbine, and wind speed Google obviously can see that.

but I think Google can also see theme word wind power, categories VAWT, HAWT,

Let me give you an example...

When I was searching micro niches....

My market can consist of many related seed keywords.

Seed keyword A from MS resulted in theme and category keywords.

Seed keyword B resulted in different theme and category keywords than Seed keyword A although Seed keyword A and Seed keyword B are much related same markets.

But the issue is how does this play with seo?

Example: use theme keyword from seed keyword A and theme category keywords from seed word B because they are humanly related but google doesn't see that cause of results.

You are to use Market Samurai to obtain your category keywords. If you are unsure on how to do this, we ask you re-watch Gurubob's video on Day 7 in Module One.

I can speak from 5 years first hand experience that Google does not go with 'human logic', it is driven by it's algorithm. One of my niches, a very profitable one, has a keyword phrase that for anyone that knows about the topic knows it is included. It's a bit like Salt & Pepper, they go together.

In Google's eyes they see them as two different things. And will not semantically link them. Even though anyone interested in this niche does that. So around the web you will see both of these phrases mentioned together by people who are enthusiastic about the niche. However Google refuses to.

I have spent so so so many hours speaking to Google Support Staff about this for PPC advertising. Explaining this to them. Whilst they can see the logic on a human level, it means nothing, as the Google algorithm does not. It means I have to separate these keywords out and do different activities for them. Again, even though anyone who knows about this topic, knows they are part n parcel.

So we are speaking from direct experience, not opinion or theory.

Please use the MS tool to get your category keywords - in the way Robert shows you how to on Module One Day 7.

    Best
