I wanted to edit my article and wanted to peak around wp and wpd to see which would be the better editor. When I went into the admin panel of wp, it said I need to upgrade to 3.0.1. If I upgraded would this mess up anything in the challenge? I don't want to get ahead and throw my new site into a corner. I've tried searching the forum to see if any issues, but was unable to find anything. Where do we stand with the upgrade?
I would suggest you upgrade to WP 3.0.1 (I did that already) simply because WP 3.0 had a minor issue when I was trying to edit my picture in my post, it won't popup a small window for me to change the picture properties, nor successful allow me to insert new picture. But once I've upgraded to WP 3.0.1, that problem was resolved. As for other plugins, just update them to the latest version will be fine. Hope this help.
You generally don't want to upgrade your Wordpress install unless you know that your theme is compatible with that version, as well as your important plugins.
I take the lazy man's approach. I never want to be the first to upgrade. I let others jump into buggy waters ahead of me and find all of the problems that need to be fixed. Then, when I'm ready to upgrade, many, if not all, of the issues have been resolved and I have a pain-free update!
A couple of years back, WPD was installing an older version of Wordpress because not all of their recommended themes and plugins had been updated to be compatible. I waited for the green light from WPD to upgrade.
P.S. -- ALWAYS BACKUP before upgrading!

Thanks for the info. I think I will email WPD support and see where they are with the updates for 3.0.1. Since I only have 1 article, no pics, this is probably the best time to do any upgrades if any. I will also find out how to do back-ups...great suggestion!
Well, WPDirect has announced that Wordpress 3.0 is supported and used as default version on all new installations (source: http://www.wpdirect.com/login.php). And since the release of WP3.0, there were about 50 minor issues have been fixed in release 3.0.1 (source: http://core.trac.wordpress.org/query...ilestone=3.0.1). So I think it is better to upgrade to WP3.0.1 just to have 50 bugs lesser. Just my 2 cents
