    Indexing question

Okay, just need someone to double check on me please. Have finished all tasks etc and was concerned about being indexed. Just refreshed MS rank tracker and the results were:

Keyword One. Broad Position G. Phrase position: G. Ranking page not found in Google
Keyword Two. Broad Position G. Phrase position: G. Ranking page not found in Google
Keyword Three. Broad Position G. Phrase position: G. Ranking page not found in Google
Keyword Four. Broad Position G. Phrase position: G. Ranking page not found in Google
Theme Keyword Broad Position 191. Phrase position 119. Then under ranking page, it has a link to my website.

So I assume all is well. Also with regards to the search engines on the same page, only Google and Phrase Match results are ticked.

I also typed my URL into Yahoo but the site could not be found. From reading all the blog posts, I think all is okay but I suppose I am seeking some kind of assurance that things are going okay?

    Hi Kaalo,
Wish I could help you out here and say something that would make you feel a bit better .... but I'm in the same boat !

    So...
    1. I'm guessing that all's ok and we just have to sit back and enjoy the wait !
    2. Thank you for asking the question I was to shy to ask myself

Don't worry too much about it. Indexing happens from activity on the web - you create posts, you use use traffic bug, you create articles on other sites etc and you get found. From these links you start to rank. At the moment you really haven't done that much. Some people may rank straight away others you have to do more work.

I suspect next week we will be creating more links to your site and building up its profile ... Rather than check the rank checker each day I would create some more articles ready to use.

    whilst I AM waiting!

can I just ask a couple of questioning about this 'indexing' gig?

I think I get it; that 'to be indexed' is when say Google recognizes that you actually exist in the first place. Is that right?

Ok that being said ... once this has been achieved, is it a continuous exercise. Much like when wanted your mum to take notice of you (and she was busy doing something more interesting)
You know the strategy "Mum ... Mum ... Mum ...."

Or is it once we're noticed a couple of times thats enough? I'm thinking its the Mum thing

    Hi Gray
Thanks for that. Just knowing that others are in the same boat is fine with me. Didn't want to sink. But most of all thanks for saying you had the same question. Sometimes I feel a little stupid with some of my questions. But have learnt very quickly that you will NOT get ridiculed or treated like a newbie from all the folks at the Challenge.

Yeah it is a cool quote ! Thanks

I've also decided that Newbies rock by the way Kaalo. Everything I'm learning on the Challenge (even new to Facebook and Forums ... thats why I'm a bit Icon happy at the moment!) is brand spanking new to me, and thats such a cool thing.

If I was to get run over by a bus tomorrow ... apart from being furious about being run over by a bus ... I'm am so much more than I was 2 weeks ago. lol

Best of luck to you with it all

Index is normally a one off ... but a one off for each new post you add to your site. If it isn't indexed it will never get ranked and shown in the search results.

@gray, we're all newbies in The Challenge! That's what makes it so great is that we have vets that come back just to learn what's new. They put themselves in the newbie mindset to learn but they can help out from time to time with stuff they already know.

Here's the scoop (using Google for ex):
Indexed - Google has been to your page at least once and knows you exist and you are in their index. It may think your page is irrelevant and you are on page 1000, but you're in there.

Not Indexed - either Google doesn't know about you or you had a problem and Google thought you went away after a period of time so they forgot about you.

Ranked - Google has looked at your page for a particular keyword phrase and has decided you are relevant for that phrase. Ranked usually, but not always, refers to being in the first few pages of the search engine results pages (SERPs) because being ranked at 1000 is not really useful and rarely spoken of Google will put you somewhere when you are indexed but it may not be significant.

    Hope it helps!
