    Late matrix analysis.. please advise.

I am sorry, but I have tried to figure out how to provide an image of the analysis from MS, but was unable find how to crop the info on the left.

So I will just explain. The key phrase I am leaning toward has two all greens bars... the number 8 and 9 positions. In addition, several of the higher ones are all green except PR which in those cases are PR 3`S and 4`s. However there is a PR0, PR1 and a couple of PR2`s in the top ten. Again, most of the PR3`s and 4`s are all green except their yellow PR bar and #8 & 9 are all green. #8 is PR1 and #9 PR2. BLP are 0 for both of those.

Searches on my keyword phrase is 398. SEOT is 167. OCI is 95%.

The key phrase when googled has 3 ads on the right and 2 up top. Clickbank had an ebook that looked like it might be good. If I understood things correctly my take would be a little less then $10 on each sale. Amazon had a $15 item that I would make 4% commission and some other lesser products. Ebay also had several items for sale that directly related to the keyphrase.

In MS the key phrase was left with only 3 phrases counting the main. However there was a couple of keywords from the root that fit perfectly and would make 5 or 6 keyphrases. To be honest they all fit together so well I don`T know why MS didn`T put the other phrases with it. I ran it both ways but when I run one key phrase it leave off the other and visa versa.

So I would like to know what everyone thinks of this info. I am leaving off something? Does it look good?

    Matrix Analysis

    Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that you can download jing at jingproject.com which will let you create screenshots really easy. What's nice is it uploads to their server so you don't have to mess with saving and uploading. You just click screen shot, drag the box around and hit share, it's awesome.

    Hi Mark

If you want to capture a shot of your MS matrix the best program to use is Jing http://www.jingproject.com/ And you can learn how to upload a copy of your matrix to the forum for analysis by checking out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUJ3msCluwg

Couple of problems with the information you gave me - You make no mention of the SEOC of your niche keyword - I presume it's under the 30,000 limit but you need to confirm that. Another factor is that although you tell me that you have 2 green lines in your matrix - which means it technically passes - I am not really able to assess the quality of your competition toward the top of the matrix to give you an opinion on whether you can get high enough to get reasonable traffic numbers.

You may also have some problems with your category phrase traffic if you only have 2 others apart from the theme keyword - The words that you mention exist at the root search are NOT suitable for category keywords unless they also show up when you do a new search using the theme keyword as the seed. Keyphrases that you think go together logically may not be seen by google as related and if you use them will get you little to no traffic. Three to four category keywords are advised to ensure decent traffic - the two keywords you have may work though if they have enough traffic.

To make this work here's what I think you need to do - use Jing and the upload technique to supply us with a view of your matrix so we can see all the important competition data. Also do a graphic of the search traffic for your theme & category keywords from the MS search. Give us your own more detailed interpretation of the competition in that matrix ( Have a look here for an example of a great analysis: http://challenge.co/forum/showthread...nalysis-Please )

I know it's a bit of work but the important part is that it will help you better learn how to approach a matrix in future. Looking forward to seeing your updated matrix

Hey guys. Thanks for the help. I have downloaded jing. As I write this I am working on line. It`s my day job. I do some consulting and online instruction. In anycase, just as soon as I finish I will do a quick study of jing and get you the screen shot. I will also provide the additional info you requested.

Bill, I don`t mind the work. Learning the right way to investigate niches is why I am here.

I will try to get everything you asked for.

Amazon and CJ had several items in the $100 - $200 range.

A search on Google had only 2 ads on the right and nothing up top.

If I need to supply more info please let me know.

Hi Mark, Assuming the orange line is your Theme keyword the SEOC is 46,500 and should be less than 30,000. It is possible to use this but for beginners like us we are setting ourselves up for a long hard road fraught with setbacks, disappointment and frustration. If it were me, I'd look for some lower hanging fruit.

Remember, don't get emotionally involved in the niches as well... let the numbers tell you if they work or not. I had one I really loved but had to let it go because I want to succeed, not be frustrated first time out of the gate.

Hope it helps and all the best on finding that golden-niche!

Mark if your theme keyword is the one highlighted then it's well over the 30,000 SEOC Challenge limit and doesn't meet the competition requirements - sometimes if a matrix is very green you might get away with a slightly higher competition limit but I'm also not keen on the competition at the top of your matrix. Although you have the advantage that you could better on-page optimize a site the heavy number of backlinks would make getting to the top of that matrix a slow process - not one I would want to start out with when I was learning the process. Maybe see if you can find something easier for now with a keyphrase that meets the 80/15/30,000 Challenge traffic rules.

    Maybe this one???

Ok, this is proving to be a "Challenge" indeed With further research I have come to believe this Micro Niche might be a good one. Of course I may be wrong.. as I often am

Here is the competition info from MS

    http://www.screencast.com/users/Mark...5-2fa462b4644f

The main keyword phrase had 21 matching keyword phrases so I had to make 2 captures...

When I did a google search from Japan it had only one ad on the right and nothing up top. But using Chrome I did a search from America and it had 8 ads on the right and 3 up top. Makes sense because it is addressing a problem that is much less in Japan, but in the U.S. and U.K. is a bigger problem. Japan has this issue increasing and will be a need in the future.

Regarding the monetization... Using MS I found that Amazon had several products that work and range from low price to high ticket items. Some looked very popular from what I could tell.

Click bank and CJ also each had several high and low ticket items and ebooks. Pay Dot com had nothing that fit.

Ok, so I am not sure if you need some more info or not.. if so let me know and I will do my best. I am trying to find something that works so I can move forward and not get behind, but doing it right is why I am here, so don`t be afraid to tell me what is good and not good or what info you need to better assess the situation.

Mark once again you have a keyphrase and matrix that both technically pass the Challenge traffic and competition requirements and it's clear that you are also getting quite good at analyzing some aspects of your information - but I notice that you say little about the quality of your actual matrix competition factors - being able to quickly assess your matrix competition is a good skill to learn when you are trying to work out what to tackle and what to leave,

What you want to achieve is lots of traffic to your site - so you need to consider the traffic potential of your keyphrase and any possible barriers to getting that traffic. With a SEOT of 306 that theme phrase looks pretty good but the low PBR potentially cuts the traffic quite a bit straight away unless you can get to close to the top of your matrix. Although there is some opportunity to do that by being better with on-page optimization those red high backlinks for the top 3 sites will slow you down a lot as you try to match them.

So although this matrix is achievable and mets the Challenge standards it might take you a bit longer than you think to rank high enough to get decent traffic to test your niche in light of that low PBR. Again if the niche appeals it may be worth spending the time on (especially as the category keyword traffic may help a bit) but I think it might take a while.

    Bill

PS Mark it's best by the way to start a new post for each new matrix you present to avoid confusion.
