I've been catching up in my time away. I'm reading furiously on the topic of recent changes and the current state of I.m....

With this in mind, I'm noticing the panda and penguin updates coming up quite a bit. There are people everywhere who appear to be either...

1. Speculating on googles next move

2. Giving advice, as if they have all the answers...

3. Running around in a panic...

I'm not sure what to believe. I am instead continuing my move thru the challenge. I work thru this program with an eye on joining immediate edge in the future. I also am reacquainting myself with googles tools and rules...

Beyond these action steps I can't help but be left with a few big questions... You see these changes are leaving me concerned. I'm wondering if anyone can help condense their best advice regarding the following....

Question one: there are those who say the old ways of doing business are dead. What does this mean? Mind you I do in part understand what has been discussed by way of linking schemes and article spinning. What I am concerned about is commentary around the Internet on blogs and forums, etc that the old ways of keeping and maintaining business are changing. How exactly does this affect my efforts to enter this business? How does it influence our challenge efforts?

Question two: related to the above observation are heated debates in the blogs nd forums about the idea that "article marketing doesn't work or is "dead". As I remember learning about it some time ago, it was a useful way to get traffic, gain links, and maybe some email subscribers. Is this still the case, or what? Having been away I am not sure what to make of the commentary that article marketing is dead. Any thoughts would help.

Question three: I recently listened to a podcast by Ed dale. He was discussing with someone else, google plus. I dont frankly remember where I found it, although I was playing with my iPad at the time. What I took away was an understanding of this new tool in terms of the social media marketing notion. It was stated that developing an authorship following will be important in the future for those in this business. What might this mean, and how do I gain authorship following?

Final question...how do the panda and penguin changes affect our challenge efforts. I there anything I need to do differently or things we need to keep in mind

I found a good keyword, but it's awkward and long. I don't want to give it away, but as an example, it's equivalent to something like this:

Checkers online against friends

so it's very long, and checkersonlineagainstfriends.com would be pretty awkward. should i go for it anyway? a lot of people are searching for it, the stats are good. And it has a lot of good category keywords that go well with it.

I guess i could always make this a category keyword, and choose a different main keyword. that would be the obvious solution. but i'm curious anyway, is a 4-word keyword like the example above too long? or does that work just like any other keyword?

I have been frustrated lately hammering away at MS with all of my hobbies. All of them seem pretty saturated even in pretty specific searches and I never get through the filter.

I recently found a keyword doing my research which is "__________ for sale" blank being a specific kind of pet that sells for $20-500 depending on the type (can be shipped/sold online too). It seems like every example the challenge has given us so far is "how to" type sites, the only similar thing to my keyword would be the vintage guitar blog from years past. However, this is the first year I have done the challenge so I'm not sure if they are going in a different direction. The pets can need lots of other goodies which I could probably also direct some ads to.

Just wondering if this is something I should pursue as my main site for the challenge, since it may be out of the realm of the type of keyword they are looking for.

MS stats are as follows:
SEOT: 112 PBR:44% SEOC: 26,400

SEO competition: Seemingly nonexistent and there is no red. I got 8 results all PR 0's except one 2, BLPs all but 2 (which had 50 and 56) had 0, 5 were listed in Yahoo, only 4 title optimized, only 3 URL optimized. (one complete row meets the criteria)

Searching my exact keyword on google has plentiful ads on the side and 2 on top, but the results are pretty much junk.

On the one hand, I do realize they are suggested. At the same time they are hard to put together. I am not sure if they are more hassle than they are worth?

I just not sure about how I feel about the issue of having to rely on others. I'm kinda uncertain about being able to become acquainted with others in an online group setting. How do the group dynamics play out? Are they problematic to organize?

My experiences thus far with I.m. Have been in a very solitary context. Was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the matter from the standpoint of experience...

Have had trouble finding a team. I was in one for about one day whe the leader of our group inexplicably dropped out. Therefore I am deciding to ask former participants if they are still interested in creating a challenge group together....

Just so you know. Despite how busy I am and my personal history with internet marketing, i feel something needs to be said...

...I am very serious about this. I am going to see this endeavor on throug until I see some success. I am willing to do the work. I am willing to ride the experience on thru. I am willing to trudge past any bumps in the road.

If this describes you, let's get something organized. We can keep each other on track and learn together. I'm serious about this and looking for someone to stay on track with. The mutual encouragement may be helpful

Why the URL in first place is stronger? It seems to me that URL in second place has much stronger stats....
And of course, your opinion should i atack the position 1 with my site?
Thank you very much

Hi Guys

I've made my first dollar with my first niche after about 4 weeks of the Challenge. I'm going to continue running this site

However, I'm looking for a slightly bigger challenge now and want to go after a niche in which I previously was employed in and hence have a very strong knowledge and interest in.

The question is: Am I aiming to high?

5,000 SEOT/ 16% PBR / 175K SEOC

Looking at SEO Competition - I could with a bit of work take Number 1 or 2 spot which are both nearly all green....

Furthermore, i believe i have a few great ideas on how to monetize it.

Some feedback would be great!

Cheers
I have an existing product developed, its a stock market trading system. I have run probably 100+ keywords and I can get an SEOT that's good, a PBR that's good but ... I cannot get in the optimal range for the SEOC. What does this mean? What do I do? I don't want to abandon my product as it is an incredible tool but yet at the same time, Market Samurai is telling me there is too much competition.
How will this update affect us being that so much that we do is based on key/theme words?
